Housing FAQ
ELIGIBILITY
The Air Force must approve and refer qualified applicants for privatized housing with Aurora. The Military Housing Flight (MHF) is responsible for qualifying applicants. Prospective tenants can contact the MHF at 907-552-4439.
RENT
Rental rates are equal to the amount of the highest ranking family member’s (with dependents) BAH rate. The rent is paid by allotment. You are never out of pocket for rent because your rent is equal to your BAH.

UTILITIES
All utilities for non-metered housing are free. If you are housed in an area that is metered for utilities, you are provided with a utility allowance. Utility allowances are set at an amount that equals 110% of the average usage. Conservation is encouraged.
APPLIANCES
Each unit contains a modern energy efficient washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator.
PET POLICY
WE ALLOW PETS! While living at Aurora Military Housing all residents are allowed two domestic pets. Call today to register your pets with Fort Richardson Veterinary Services, 907-384-2865.
WASTE DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
Waste disposal and recycling services are provided free of charge to all tenants.
SCHOOLS
Children in grades K-6 will be assigned to one of the three Anchorage School District elementary schools on base (Aurora, Mount Spurr, and Orion). All middle-level students, grades 7 and 8, will attend Central Middle School. Senior high students, grades 9-12, will attend Bartlett High School. Busing is provided for all secondary students living on base. Parents can contact the Anchorage School District at 907- 348-5190 or visit www.asdk12.org for more information.
RENTERS INSURANCE
Aurora provides free renter’s insurance to all tenants. To start your renter’s insurance policy simply call 907-279-9000, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
COMMUNITY CENTERS
All Aurora Military Housing residents can use community centers free of charge. Community centers can be used for birthday parties, social events, summer gatherings and so on. Simply call Aurora Military Housing at 907-753-1023 to reserve a center in your area.
