WHY THIS INFRASTRUCTURE WORK IS IMPORTANT
PRESENT DAY
Existing water line connections in Cherry Hill are able to adequately provide water and sewer to the neighborhood, however, should a leak occur, or maintenance be required (even on a single home) the entire neighborhood’s water must be shut off.
AREAS OF CONCERN
1) The existing shutoff valves are on government property and requires the coordination and labor support of 673d CES.
2) As the water infrastructure ages, the need for additional work in the future may arise, requiring longer periods of downtime. With only a single shutoff for the entire neighborhood, residents could experience extended periods without water or sewer.
3) Most other neighborhoods on JBER contain whole building, street, or block shutoffs. While maintenance may inconvenience some homes during an emergency shut off, the impact is substantially lower.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This project will have an impact on your day to day. We’ll do our best to minimize the impact, by providing potable water deliveries to your door, adding a rent credit to your ledger, and providing timely updates on any changes.
CORE SERVICES
Water will be shut off intermittently throughout the project to enable installation of new valves. Following shut downs, and in accordance with the schedule, a Boil Water Notice will go into effect for homes whom were subject to the shut down. 673d Bioenvironmental Engineering will then conduct sampling of water and send to a lab for testing (it typically takes around 24 hours for test results to return). During this time, water should be boiled prior to consumption. Once Bioenvironmental Engineering receives favorable results, our team will email and post flyers to homes no longer subject to the Boil Water Notice.
IN HOME
Entry to homes will not be required during this project however following each outage, 673d Bioenvironmental Engineering will need to perform testing on water from a selection of buildings. If impacted, you will receive a call from AMH informing you that a representative from Bioenvironmental will knock on your door following the outage and provide a vial of which you will need to fill with tap water.
IN NEIGHBORHOOD
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM.
- Various machinery and equipment will be present in the neighborhood.
- All driveways and cul-de-sacs will be accessible however some areas will be temporarily reduced to a single lane.
