In addition to some changes to the trash and recycling pickup schedule during the weeks of 25 December and 1 January, we are offering designated ‘extra trash pickup days’ as well as Christmas Tree Disposal services.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Alaska Waste has informed us that the trash and recycling pickup schedule for this period has been modified. This is reflected in their schedule.
Missed Pickups from the Week of 12 December
While many homes were serviced as scheduled, unfortunately a number of homes were missed last week following the major snowfall. If your home was missed, Alaska waste will pick up a total of 3 extra bags of trash per households during your normal pickup days; 21 December (JBER-R) and 23 December (JBER-E).
In order to be eligible for pickup, you must comply with the requirements listed under the “Extra Trash Pickup Day” header below.
Christmas Trash and Recycling Pickup Modification
- 26 December (Monday) Recycling is Moved to 27 December (Tuesday)
- 28 December (Wednesday) JBER-R Trash pickup is moved to 29 December (Thursday)
- 30 December (Friday) JBER-E Trash pickup is moved to 31 December (Saturday)
- 29 December (JBER-R) and 31 December (JBER-E) will be Extra Trash Pickup Days, please review the guidance below if you’d like to participate.
New Years Trash and Recycling Pickup Modification
- 4 January (Wednesday) JBER-R Trash pickup is moved to 5 January (Thursday)
- 6 January (Friday) JBER-E Trash pickup is moved to 7 January (Saturday)
- 5 January (JBER-R) and 7 January (JBER-E) will be Extra Trash Pickup Days, please review the guidance below if you’d like to participate.
Extra Trash Pickup Day
Leave up to two (2) extra bags by your roll cart and have them picked up in addition to your normal trash bin on the days notated above.
Items must be:
- Bagged and sealed
- Not considered hazardous waste
- Placed by the roll cart on the specified date prior to 6 AM
Christmas Tree Disposal Service
Christmas Tree dumpsters will be located at 6350 Arctic Warrior Drive and 338 Hoonah Avenue from 27 December 2022 to 29 December 2022 and 3 January 2023 to 6 January 2023.
Please make sure all ornaments and lights are completely removed from the trees before bidding farewell to your tree.
