Reminder: Keep Wildlife Wild

We are sharing an important message from JBER Conversation Law Enforcement.

Feeding bears and moose leads to unintended consequences. The animals learn to approach people for handouts, becoming more and more demanding and eventually aggressive. The unfortunate truth is these animals pose a threat to public safety and get put down. Help us keep our wildlife wild and DO NOT FEED THEM.

Intentionally feeding wildlife is ILLEGAL. It is a mandatory court appearance, Class A Misdemeanor, and will affect your career, future jobs, and security clearance.

This time of year, moose calves are old enough to survive on their own, even if they don’t look it.  If you have a wildlife concern report it to JBER Conservation Law Enforcement Officers. Contact SFS (907) 552-7070 and they will dispatch JBER CLEOs or Military Conservation Agents 24/7.
