6.2 ENERGY CONSERVATION-ELECTRICITY

Tenants should minimize the use of electrical appliances and lighting, especially during the peak demand periods of 0600 to 0800 and 1700 to 2100.  Do not leave exterior lights on during daylight hours. When purchasing holiday lights, buy only Underwriter Laboratories (UL) approved energy efficient lights.

6.3 ENERGY CONSERVATION-HEAT/GAS

The standards for home temperature settings are 68˚ F to 72˚ F during the day and 65° F at night.  Turning the thermostat to the maximum temperature setting does not decrease the amount of time to warm up a room.  Setting the thermostat to the desired temperature will warm the home just as fast and save energy in the process.  Water heaters are set to a maximum of 120° F. Do not change the setting on your water heater.  Increasing the temperature can constitute a health and safety hazard.  If your water appears to be too hot or cold, call AMH maintenance to adjust the setting.
